UPP! Surabaya Factory

Together with PT. Sumber Djaja Perkasa from Sidoarjo, Indonesia, Upp! has set up a Joint Venture (JV) called PT. Uppcycle Sustainindo Perkasa. Under this JV, the first pilot of UPP! Circular Plastic Factory is being built in Southeast Asia, operational in 2026. With locally sourced low-value mixed plastic waste we will manufacture drainage systems and construction materials for the local market.

  • Part of the MVO-Nederland led “Plastic in Circles” program for plastic waste value chain solutions in Indonesia
  • Tasks:
    • Set up an Upp! Circular Plastic Factory processing regionally sourced low-value mixed plastic waste into robust and recyclable products (drainage systems and construction materials) for the regional market
    • Add to and strengthen the regional waste management and recycling infrastructure and regional circular economy
    • Provide a solution for the problem streams of plastic waste currently ending up being burned, landfilled, and in the environment.
  • Technical: capacity 2.000 – 4.500 ton per annum (1st phase), start-up: Q2 2025
  • Funding & financing: the Alliance to End Plastic Waste as Lead Sponsor (phase 1) and others.
